The Meet & Treat

Every journey with Mellow Mutts begins with a Meet & Treat. This is a relaxed first step where I spend time getting to know your dog (and you), while they begin to get comfortable with me in their own space. It’s all about creating a positive first impression and starting to build the trust that will make future grooming calmer and more cooperative.

Grooming & Care for Happy, Healthy Dogs

Each grooming session is tailored to your dog’s individual needs. What happens during an appointment depends on your dog’s comfort, behaviour, and health on the day. The goal is always to balance essential care with a calm, respectful approach that keeps your dog feeling safe

Bath & Dry

Using the owner’s facilities, I provide a gentle bath that supports coat and skin health and helps prepare the coat for cutting or styling. Drying methods are carefully chosen to suit each dog’s tolerance, ensuring the experience is as comfortable as possible

Brush & Deshed

Regular brushing prevents matting and removes loose coat. Small tangles will be brushed out where tolerated. Larger mats will be discreetly snipped out if
possible, or shaved carefully if necessary to maintain comfort and wellbeing.

Nail & Paw Care

Nails are clipped to maintain a healthy length, supporting comfort and movement. Depending on the dog, nails may be done gradually — a few at a time — to ensure the process is low-stress and safe

Haircut / Styling

Styles are chosen to suit your dog’s lifestyle, coat type, and your ability to maintain the look between visits. Dogs that are comfortable with the process may enjoy more stylised trims, while the focus for less confident dogs is always on wellbeing and gentle handling

House Call Grooming – How It Works

Mellow Mutts is a house call grooming service, meaning I bring all the necessary equipment to your home and groom your dog in their own environment. Working in a familiar space helps dogs feel calmer and more secure compared to visiting a busy salon.

What you’ll need to provide:

A quiet, well-lit space inside your home
Private or unrestricted parking at or very near the property
Access to electricity and warm water for bathing
Appropriate bathing facilities for dogs if a bath is required
Household basics for practical needs, such as a broom or mop to help clean up after

Please note: my equipment is designed for small to medium-sized dogs. Larger dogs can be accommodated if owners provide a safe, stable table. Please enquire

Pricing

Our pricing structure includes a £10 initial travel fee followed by an hourly rate of £40 per hour. The time taken to complete each session will be influenced by the service being carried out as well as your dog’s coat condition and their pace during the session.
